The upper half and lower half of the table show data of tra (in bold) and dsx, respectively. The pair-wise comparisons were performed within the same genus, Bactrocera or Anastrepha, among different genera of the family Tephritidae, and with D. melanogaster from the family Drosophilidae fruit fly species - Bd, B. dorsalis; Bc, B. correcta; Bj, B. jarvisi; Bt, B. tryoni; Bo, B. oleae; Ao, A. obliqua; Af, A. fraterculus aff.1; Cc, C. capitata; Dm, D. melanogaster. The GenBank Accession Numbers of tra and dsx genes from studied species are consolidated in Additional file 8: Table S2 and Additional file 9: Table S3, respectively.
