  1. HWE could not be calculated for the Lomwe and Ngoni as both populations had fewer than 50 chromosomes meaning that the test had insufficient power. No population deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, following Bonferonni correction (for CYP3A5*3: adjusted p value = 0.00139; correction for 36 tests, for CYP3A5*6: adjusted p value=0.0015; correction for 34 tests, for CYP3A5*7: adjusted p value=0.0017; correction for 30 tests). Deviations from HWE cannot be calculated for monomorphic loci: labeled “N/A” on the Table. “Total” refers to the number of individuals, from a given population, successfully genotyped at each locus. Population refers to the grouping of individuals either by self-declared ethnicity or geography/place collected.
